Early Childhood Educator Training Center Certification Program

The Baby Signs® Early Childhood Educator Training is a 3-hour video based staff training designed to help infant and toddler teachers begin using signs throughout daily routines, classroom activities, songs, and interactions with children. The training helps centers implement the Baby Signs® Program consistently across classrooms.

The Center Certification Program includes a Staff Training Guide, Center Certification Training Videos, facilitator resources, the Baby Signs® Program Introduction Video, a Video Dictionary with 150 frequently used ASL signs and 35 baby-friendly modifications, and Classroom Resource Files to support implementation. These classroom resources include digital posters, parent newsletters, coloring pages, Baby Signs® logs, and song lyrics.

Certified Baby Signs® Center Recognition with permission to identify your program as a Certified Baby Signs® Center and the opportunity to be listed on the Baby Signs® website as a certified center.

The Baby Signs® Classroom Kit is not included with the Center Certification Program and is not required to become a Certified Baby Signs® Center. It is an optional add-on for centers that want additional hands-on classroom materials, such as circle time books, sign posters, quick reference guides, photo cards, and music resources to support daily use of signs with infants and toddlers.

A Baby Signs® Certified Center has completed the Center Certification Training and is prepared to use the Baby Signs® Program with infants and toddlers in the classroom. Certification helps families know that your staff has received training in how to support early communication through signs, songs, routines, and classroom resources.

Instructor-led training is provided by a Baby Signs® Independent Certified Instructor who guides your staff through the video based training.

Facilitator-led training allows your center to purchase the Center Certification Program and have a director, administrator, or staff member lead the video based training in-house using the step-by-step materials and videos.

The training takes approximately 3 hours and includes videos, discussion, games, songs, and classroom activities to help teachers feel confident using signs right away.

Yes. The facilitator-led Center Certification Program is reusable, so your center can use the materials again when new staff members are hired. This makes it a practical option for centers that want an ongoing in-house training resource.

The training is designed for infant and toddler teachers, center directors, early childhood educators, family child care providers, and staff who support babies and young children before they are fully verbal.

Yes. The Baby Signs® Early Childhood Educator Training can be used by child care centers, early childhood programs, nonprofit organizations, family service agencies, hospitals, nanny agencies, resource and referral agencies, and other organizations that support families and young children..

Center Certification is designed to help your staff use the Baby Signs® Program with infants and toddlers in your own classrooms. It does not certify staff to teach Baby Signs® classes or workshops to families outside of your center.

If your center would like staff members to teach Baby Signs® classes, parent workshops, or professional trainings, they can become Certified Baby Signs® Instructors through the Instructor Certification Program.
