Empowering Early Childhood Educators with Baby Signs® Training in Quincy, CA

We’re thrilled to share the success of a recent Baby Signs® Early Childhood Educator Training held in Quincy, California, generously sponsored by Plumas Rural Services. This engaging and impactful training brought together 37 early childhood professionals from across Plumas County and Susanville in Lassen County, all eager to learn how to support early communication through the power of signing.

The Baby Signs® Program is grounded in decades of research showing that teaching babies to use simple signs before they can talk supports language development, reduces frustration, and builds strong bonds between caregivers and children. Our Early Childhood Educator Training equips providers with practical strategies, fun activities, and research-backed tools they can use in classrooms, centers, and home-based programs.

Throughout the training, participants explored:

  • The benefits of using signs with infants and toddlers

  • Key strategies for introducing signs during daily routines

  • Fun, developmentally appropriate activities that build communication and connection

  • Tools and resources to involve families and caregivers in the signing journey

By the end of the training, every participant earned the title of Certified Baby Signs® Provider, ready to bring this powerful tool into their classrooms and care settings. We're proud to share that several centers and agencies are now officially recognized as Certified Baby Signs® Centers, including:

  • Plumas District Hospital Child Care Center

  • Plumas Rural Services Early Start Family Resource Center

  • Sierra Cascade Family Opportunities Head Start

  • SCFO Head Start

  • Feather River College Child Development Center
…along with several dedicated in-home family child care providers.

Each participant received certificates of completion and access to valuable resources—including marketing tools, classroom materials, and family engagement support—to confidently implement the Baby Signs® Program.

We’re incredibly grateful to Plumas Rural Services for prioritizing professional development and investing in tools that empower providers and support children’s early learning. Their partnership has helped open new doors for connection, communication, and confidence throughout the region.
