Empowering the Antelope Valley Community: Highlights from the Baby Signs® 2-Day Instructor Certification Training

Last week’s Baby Signs® 2-Day Instructor Certification Training, proudly sponsored by Best Start Antelope Valley, brought together a diverse group of 45 passionate professionals from the childcare, doula, speech-language pathology (SLP), lactation consulting, and early intervention fields. Held in Palmdale, CA, this transformative event equipped attendees with the training and resources needed to revolutionize early communication and foster stronger bonds between infants, toddlers, and their caregivers.

Comprehensive Training and Resources

Throughout the intensive training sessions, participants acquired essential knowledge and skills, including:

• Effective Teaching Methods: Attendees learned the most effective ways to teach signing to babies, leveraging research-based strategies and practical techniques to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
• Basic Sign Language: With a focus on practicality and relevance, participants familiarized themselves with over 100 of the most useful American Sign Language (ASL) signs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, enabling them to create meaningful communication experiences.
• Parent Workshops: Equipped with comprehensive resources, attendees gained the confidence to facilitate Baby Signs® Parent Workshops, empowering parents, care providers, and early interventionists with valuable insights and strategies.
• Play Classes: Interactive play is a cornerstone of early childhood development. Participants learned how to conduct engaging Baby Signs® play classes for babies and their parents, fostering learning, socialization, and bonding in a supportive environment.
